The Techron Engine lab runs 24/7 about 600,000 hours per year, and evaluates competitor's fuel additives and fuels against Techron. At this facility, we run two types of engine tests; the keep clean engine test and a dirty up/clean up test. In the keep clean engine test, we put an additive in the fuel and run the engine for hundreds of hours, or thousands of miles, then evaluate that additive and how it keeps the engine clean. On our dirty-up clean-up test, we will dirty an engine over time and look at how many deposits there are in the engine. Then we will use a clean-up additive, sometimes in a concentrated form, and will evaluate how well it cleans up inside the engine.

The engines here are all blue printed and measured to 10 thousandths of an inch. All the moving parts, and the parts we want to measure, are weighed to the milligram. Each of the engines must be exactly the same as we go through the testing of additive to additive. The engine cannot be the variable. The additive has to be the variable. Every engine is tightly looked at, scrutinized, and built in this facility.

When we are done testing in the engine lab, we take it to the real world and do long term driving so that we can look at the difference and long term effectiveness of the additive in the real world.
